Compile Collections

When compiling you can click the down caret to the right of the Compile Window in the third panel.

You have multiple options on what to include to be compiled which could be the Full Manuscript/Novel, your current selection (the files now highlighted in the Binder), or any current Dynamic or Static collection. You can further narrow this by clicking on the small funnel to the right of the selection window and can apply filters to this as well which will further narrow what is compiled.

The arrow shows the down caret which shows options besides #1 which by default is the manuscript.

You can choose # 2 which is whatever the currently selected files in the binder are and these will be compiled.

You can choose any of the collection options shown in #3. A smaller portion of your novel/project could be sent to an editor or beta reader rather than the whole work.

The Filter icon (the funnel) allows multiple options to further limit what is included when compile.

You can further adjust what is compiled by manually unchecking documents in the Compile list.

This can be very helpful if multiple books are stored in one project. You can create a collection for each book in your series and include the book, and assign its associated Front and Back Matter. So you could use collections to compile each book in a series without touching the other material.

Note: When working on your compile format, you could have a compile test collection which could include 1 or 2 chapters, several scenes, Acts and Front and Back Matter to test out your Compile Format. By using a small number of files that ultilize every element of a full book, you can rapidily output a pdf or ebook format for example and then rapidily modify your compile format to fine tune the appearance.
